Chipper x Ice Pups

Am/Can/Mex Ch. MacAlder Best For Shojin x Trial By Fire o' Amethyst, CGC

We have been planning for a couple years to breed, by frozen semen, to Am/Can/Mex Ch. MacAlder Best For Shojin.  "Chipper" was the Gordon Setter Club of America's #1 Gordon in 1983, a top producer in 1985.  He was the son of Am/Can Ch. MacAlder Mr. Chips, the #1 Sire, All Breeds in 1980.

"Chipper" was the father of our first Gordon Setter, Ch. Kilernan's Spice o' My Life (out of Ch. Greenglen's Glad Rags), and also the sire of our Ch. Daybreak Blue's Brother (Trouble) who was out of Ch. Agaru Autumn Silhoutte, JH.  Currently, we own Shojin's Somewhere in Time (Dude) who is from the only successful frozen semen breeding to Chipper to-date.

However, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming arrival of puppies, due on November 17, 2002, out of our Trial by Fire o' Amethyst, CGC (Ice).  In September of 2002, Greg drove to Cleveland, OH where Dr. Robert van Hutchison, of Northview Animal Clinic, surgically implanted Ice to Chipper, by frozen semen.  The photo essay of the procedure is cool, pardon the pun.

They have arrived!!  We're so excited about the 6 pups Ice whelped on November 17.  She had 3 boys and 3 girls.  Enjoy the photos.

  • Ice waiting for a puppy to be born. She started in labor about 3 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2002.

  • Purple girl is out first.  She weighed 17 oz. and knew right to go for the food.

  • Red boy wasn't too far behind his sister.  He, too, weighed in about 17 oz.  Here he is, moments after being born.  He reminds me of his dad, Chipper.

  • Ice nursing her babies.

  • Proud mom.  I'm so proud of her, too!!

  • Red boy, "Chiplet" nursing.

  • Green collar boy.

  • Green collar boy snuggling.
