February 2002

On February 19, 2002, Greg and I headed to Niagara Falls, New York for the Rainbow Classic Cluster.  We had a fun time and visited with Bethany Brenneman Lathrop, DVM and her husband, Josh, who own Amethyst's Aberlour o' Autumn (Abby).  Abby earned two major-reserves during the cluster. One award was from Mrs. Judy Doniere and the other from Miss Virginia Lyne.  Abby had a great time and we enjoyed showing this lovely girl out of Ch. Glen Oak's Maltese Falcon, CD, MH  out of our MacAlder J'Amethyst Royale.

We also showed Titan & Amethyst's Bailey Boy (Bailey) for his owners Dick and Dee Fitzgerald.  Bailey earned a major reserve on Thursday, under Mr. William D. Ashbey.

While in Niagara Falls, we met up with our good friends, Steve and Becky Spicer of Nashua, NH who raise and show Skye Terriers.  We met them last year in Louisville, KY when I attended a breeders' seminar that was sponsored by their parent club.  The seminar presenter was Dr. Carmen Battaglia.  We enjoyed a nice evening out with Steve and Becky and their Skye Terrier friends and others who have Cardigan Welsh Corgis.  Bethany, Steve, Becky, Greg and I all took a trip to see the Falls.  A good time was had by all!!

We also need to salute and congratulate fellow breeder, Holly Wachuta (Tartana)  on her 4th Dual Champion.  FC Tartana Cutty Sark, JH earned his bench championship on Sunday, February 24, 2002 at the Kennel Club of Niagara Falls (2) Show under Col. Joe Weiss.   Cutter had also won WD on Friday, February 22, 2002 under Mrs. Judy Doniere.  Cutter is out of  Dual Ch. Gordon Hill Hangfire x Dual Ch. Tartana Clarion Clipper.  Cutter was also co-bred by Susan DeSilver and Jean Webb.  Cutter's owner is Marianne Goodwin.  This is a very cool accomplishment and we were pleased to have shared in this dog's completion of his bench championship.  It's really nice to know that it is possible for a Gordon Setter to be a true dual representative.

Congratulations, Dick and Dee on your boy's nice wins!!

Out in the State of New York, we find that Amethyst's Aberlour o' Autumn (Abby) who is owned by Bethany Breneman Lathrop, DVM and Peggy DaValt took Winners Bitch in Pennsauken, NJ for her first point in early January.  Bethany called to say that Abby took another point this weekend in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Super job, Bethany and Abby!!

September-October 2001

September and October have been busy months for us.  We have been traveling about the US with our dogs and that included the GSCA National Specialty that was held in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  I am working on the narrative for this exciting event.  Watch here for updates.

Amethyst salutes our newest titleholder!!  Amethyst's Jazzy Aidan, JH, CGC, TDI had a busy fall.  Aidan was busy growing up for the show ring, but didn't waste any time earning 3 other titles.  In September of 2001 at the Manitowoc Cluster he earned his Canine Good Citizen Award as well as his Therapy Dog International certificate.  Then he earned his Junior Hunter title.  Congratulations, Aidan and his owners, Ron and Gwen Pfeil!!  We are very pleased and proud of what you have accomplished with Aidan.  Aidan needs a major to finish his AKC show championship.

Not to be outdone, Ron and Gwen's newest addition, Amethyst's Sparkling MacEdan (MacE) who is out of our Ch. Glen Oaks' Firedance o' Amethyst x Ch. Clansmen 'n' Amethyst Hi Ground earned 4 Best of Breeds at the Manitowoc Cluster.  Way to go, MacE and Gwen!!  MacE almost earned a JH leg as well.  We are very proud of this youngster!!  I understand that MacE's brother, Gilly owned by John and Maggie Pernice is quite the hunter too!!

We are proud of our Ch. Glen Oaks' Firedance o' Amethyst.  Fire has maintained his presence in the Top #25 for most of the year.  While he did not earn an invitation to the AKC/Eukanuba Invitational we are proud of our boy.  Thank you to all of you who rooted for us and who supported us as we endeavored to take Fire to Florida.

In October of 2001 at the Indianhead Kennel Club our Amethyst's Fire of MacKenna (Patch) who is out of CH. Glen Oak's Maltese Falcon, CD, MH (Hawk) x Trial By Fire o' Amethyst (Ice) earned his first point under Ms. Marcia Foy on Sunday, October 7, 2001.  Patch is proudly co-owned with Carmen Schwitzer of Minnesota.

In addition to the dogs at Amethyst, we have been handling a couple other dogs for clients.

We salute:  Tri-Sett Lady Leah Sevenoaks (Emma) who earned 6 points this summer while staying with us.  Emma is owned by Sally and Dale Frones.  Emma did very well for us at the GSCA National Specialty earning a "cut" in her 12-18 month class along with two of her sisters who actually placed in the class.  Emma also got to participate in the Judges Education Seminar at the National.  That was a fun experience.  Watch for upcoming photos from that event.

We also salute:  Fallon's Flights o' Fancy (RB) an Irish Setter that we have been handling for his owner, Anne Schilling.  RB has earned 5 points this summer along with a major-reserve.  We are having fun with this red dog.   Watch for him in other arenas as he is Tracking Certified as well as an agility dog.  Go RBQ!!
